Eighteenth
century Cathedral. In July and August, free guided tours every 30
minutes. (It's in the center)
Paseo Marítimo. A good walk to admire the bay one of the most beautiful in the world
On this journey we meet the ferry. Do not hesitate to take a leisurely boat trip. There are several options. They can take a walk along the bay by boat or take the boat that usually comes to Pedreña or Somo. I advise going to Somo, a walk through the town (it has a beautiful resort and beach).
The Royal Site of the Magdalene is found in the homonymous peninsula at the end of the Paseo del Sardinero. It is away from downtown, but there are plenty of bus lines which stop here. It is certainly the most emblematic of Santander, the symbol of the city and fully bound tour. At the entrance of the complex include an information kiosk and reception, which also draw tickets to tour the entire peninsula in a little train (in winter from 9 to 13:30 and 15:30 to 18:30, in summer, all day). The visit to the Royal Site comprises several places, as has an area of 28 hectares:
-El Palacio de la Magdalena, in 1912, located at the highest point. It is a quintessential English castle, Victorian style, which was donated by the city of Santander to King Alfonso XIII to spend her summer vacation. It is now used to provide university education (Menendez-Pelayo International University), and as Congress, but can be visited inside. It has been declared a Historic Artistic Monument since
1993.
-Across from the Palace you can see the Isla de Mouro, characterized by its lighthouse.
"The Mews, which are now a residence for foreign students. Here are a coffee shop where take a break.
"The mini-zoo where you can see penguins, seals and sea lions.
"The open air museum" Man and Earth, "which displays a reproduction of the three ships of Columbus, a raft and rescue a strange bubble.
-Beaches: The beaches of the peninsula of Magdalena is located south of it, is that of Bikinis and Magdalena. Against them are the Tower Island and the island Horadada.
"There's also a playground, before which stands the monument to Felix Rodriguez de la Fuente.
"In the east end of the peninsula is the Royal Pier and Lighthouse Cerda.
There are many things to see, and the walk is fairly long, but worth it.
I recommend:
Parking near the bay. Take a walk, the cathedral is near. Go to the Palacio de la Magdalena by bus (every line, except the 5, going on there Sardinero address). And in the evening to give that beautiful boat ride across the bay to relax from the walk from the Palace.
